There is a great news item on the frontpage of the South County Independent that demonstrates clearly the mean-spirited attitude of the Republican Party in RI after the school committee bravely, and in the interest of all SK students, agreed to institute a breakfast program for all students:
"Former School Committee member and Republican Party operative David Coté has
filed complaints with the federal and state Departments of Education and the
U.S. Agriculture Department over the School Committee’s decision to pilot free
breakfast at the middle school."
Some narrow-minded people in the audience according to the article previously had suggested reporting families to the authorities for not serving their kids breakfast.
Republicans....they don't mind spending billions if not trillions on supporting a war they lied about to get us to go to Iraq, but ask for a few thousand bucks for hungry school children, they get upset....where may I ask are Republican priorities?
