WHERE IS JACK REED? ALL RI WANTS TO KNOW

All the other RI super delegates have made their choice.  RI went overwhelmingly for Hillary...NOT OBAMA...why isn't Jack Reed backing the citizens of RI and endorsing Hillary Clinton?  Come on Jack...Obama may get the nomination, but it is not over yet....ENDORSE HILLARY....

THE MIDDLE AGED WOMAN WINS! YEAH!

Last night must have felt good to all those middle aged women of all races who by experience, intelligence and their great work ethic are displaced all too frequently in corporations, offices of all kinds, schools, hospitals, libraries, factories, etc., by the great-talking, handsome, exciting, new guy on the block who when compared to that middle aged woman he has no experience to speak of, with no more intelligence and with no more insights yet when it comes time for promotions, he gets the nod.  Hillary Clinton changed that scenario last night.

Hillary Clinton carried three out of four states last night and two of them by double digits.  I am happy to say that Rhode Island spoke up for women with experience and fortitude and voted squarely for Hillary Clinton as did Ohio and Texas.

This race goes on...and when the people are allowed to vote in elections, Hillary always wins.  When its a large, traditionally Democratic state, Hillary always wins unless it's the opponents home state, lol.

It's now time for the Super Delegates!  It is mathematically impossible for either Hillary or Barack to win the pledged delegates needed to get the nomination and some one needs to make the decision on who the Democratic nominee will be.  It's time for the process to play out as written and that means the Super Delegates now come into play.

I can't imagine that the Super Delegates would deny this to Hillary.

Barack outspent her 3-1 and sometimes 4-1 and couldn't win closure on the nomination.  Barack hasn't been able to win any of those states that are traditionally democratic and needed to win the presidency.  The Democratic traditional base of women, middle class and working class Americans, Latinos and those over 50 all went for Hillary and usually in every state.

In Denver or before, AFTER EVERY STATE HAS VOTED, the Super Delegates must decide who will be best for the party and the country and help to elect Hillary!

Santorum: Obama Easier to Beat in General Election

Here is a video of former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum on Fox News discussing Barack Obama and the presidential campaign.  Santorum says Obama is a far-left idealogue (I like that, LOL) who he believes would be actually easier to beat in the general election than Hillary Clinton.

Thousands At Rally for Clinton

While Patrick Kennedy, a Barack Obama supporter, spoke to a few people in Pawtucket (most of the people were from Massachusetts btw--NOT Rhode Islanders--canvassers for Barack) THOUSANDS, at least two thousand people were in the RIC Auditorium today to hear the next president, Hillary Rodham Clinton.  The size of the crowd though lively and huge, could have been better, but it was great to see people of all ages, all colors, all genders, and all cultural backgrounds as excited as they were for Hillary.

She won thunderous applause for her emergency economic plan and--unlike Obama--her UNIVERSAL healthcare plan.

She faces an uphill battle against Obama and his forces from Massachusetts, LOL, but we hope for the best.  President Bill Clinton, the rock star of the democratic party will be here on Thursday.

It was great to see Sheldon Whitehouse and all those other democratic leaders at the rally.  Mayor Cicilline was disinvited because Hillary did not want the Firefighters with whom he is fighting to picket.  She is solidly union.  I was thinking about donating and voting for Cicilline for Governor, but unless he comes out in support of Hillary as he promised, or so I thought, I will rethink that....if he can't see that she is THE candidate who can accomplish more for us, I'm not impressed with his judgement.  He'll come around and BEFORE the primary on the 4th I hope.

Patrick said they are working on bringing in his father, Ted Kennedy, before the primary.  Nice, but Rhode Island wants Hillary and Patrick should be with us and let's hope that Ted, who I love, will be as effective for Obama in Rhode Island as he was in Massachusetts.  ;-)

"It takes a woman to end this war" as one of the signs at today's great rally stated, and that woman is Hillary!

Want social security left alone, vote for Hillary.  Want healthcare, vote for Hillary.  Want to save your house, vote for Hillary.  She has solutions not just verbiage.

RHODE ISLAND PRIMARY NOW MATTERS

According MSNBC, one of the real dangers for Obama is that he is in danger of becoming nothing more than a chichi candidate of the wine drinking set.  The working class with the exception of African Americans has chosen Hillary.  Here's the great Providence Journal piece from this morning's headlines:

RHODE ISLAND NOW MATTERS.

WHY HILLARY WILL WIN IT ALL

Several points can be made after Super Tuesday as to why Hillary will win this election:
1.  The Kennedy "Magic" is either long dead or not easily transferable, and in fact in many ways it may have been a huge negative.  After all, as much as we love the memory of JFK, and even Teddy, who wants to go back to the Sixties? Ted Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, Little Patrick, Maria Shriver, Ethel Kennedy, all joined Oprah in campaigning against Hillary Clinton and for Barack.  The result?  She won bigger in Massachusetts than she was expected to and won in California and Arizona where the Kennedys were expected to influence the election in, as we had been hearing since Ted broke his neutrality, a "huge" way.  Just the opposite seemed to have happened.  Even in California where pundits were saying Hillary would lose to Barack by 5-10 points she won in a HUGE way.  Even if we factor out the fact that some voters voted early when Hillary had a big lead in California, she would have beat Barack without breaking a sweat.
The key to Hillary's success:  women, union membership, and all minority groups except African Americans.

2.  The so-called move to Obama that was to kill off Hillary just didn't materialize again.  We where told that after Iowa, Obama's "Big Mo" would kill off Hillary in New Hampshire.  Didn't happen.  We were told the same thing in the hours and days before Super Tuesday .... "Barack's momentum will drown Hillary on Super Tuesday."  That didn't happen last night.  Hillary whooped Barack and those pundits--most of them--who got it wrong again.
3.  With a few exceptions, Barack won in the states (caucuses) where people had to vote in public.  Why is that?  There is something VERY DARK going on here that speaks volumes about how race is a huge negative factor in American politics.  How else do we explain which states Barack won and which he lost but the polls said he would win, but didn't?  It's really sad that such racism still exists...but we all sorta knew that it did, and African Americans surely know that it does.
4.  Hispanics, women and union membership were the keys for Hillary, and it is that support in incredibly high numbers that will carry her to a win over either McCain, or Mitty, or the Huckster.......
What happened in Massachusetts on a smaller scale number-wise will happen in Rhode Island, too, come March....thanks to women, Hispanics, Asians and union membership.

OBAMA IS NOT THE CANDIDATE OF CHANGE

Barack Obama claims to be the candidate of change. Yes, as the first African American male to have a real shot at the presidency he is correct. Saying he is the harbinger of change because of policies he has advocated is not necessarily true. All three Democratic candidates are the harbingers of change in terms of policy. There is virtually no difference between Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. No matter which candidate wins the election, we will see dramatic changes in War policy, healthcare, etc….all those things which are important to Democrats.

The real change that can take place here is the election of a woman, Hillary Clinton.

The male establishments have come together to oppose that…One only has to watch critically the various cable and network television programs each and everyday leading up to the most recent primary to see how Obama is privileged and Hillary because she is a woman, indeed a strong and forceful, highly intelligent woman, is attacked in ways that Obama and Edwards are not. For example, Obama’s spouse and indeed Edwards’ spouse are highly outspoken about and critical of other candidates. Elizabeth Edwards has been made iconic because of her forceful support of her husband.

All those talk shows, Tucker, Matthews, Blizter, that I’ve mentioned all praised Elizabeth Edwards. The same is true when Obama puts his wife in as a surrogate when he cannot be present. Let it be Bill in as a surrogate for his spouse, Hillary Clinton, and whamo, Hillary is attacked, denigrated, called anti-feminist, nasty, etc…by all the commentators, and mostly all men.

All those men in the Senate, where Hillary is uniformly praised as one of best, are now moving and mostly all to support Obama, the other electable male in the race. Even Ted Kennedy is said to be on the verge of endorsing Obama. Caroline Kennedy writes in today’s Times that Obama is “a president like my father” because Obama DOES excite people. He does give a great speech. He does give hope and mouths the need for change. But Kennedy did give excitement and hope to many of us, but when it comes to experience and substance, Kennedy’s presidency does not come across well. It was Lyndon Johnson who brought us real change, and Lyndon was the Hillary of the 1960 campaign that saw style over substance win the democratic nomination.

Hillary Clinton is clearly the most qualified of the candidates. Yet, and I believe it because she is a woman, that the male establishment is coming together to block her earned nomination even if it means electing an African American candidate for the first time. The world won’t fall apart if Obama is elected, and under different circumstances I would vote for him in a snap, but not now. But, those men who are supporting Obama now, especially South Carolina, are men who blocked African Americans for centuries. The woman happens to be the most qualified of the candidates, and the men don’t like that.

Conservative men in South Carolina who for centuries debased and kept in slavery black men all voted for Obama rather than have a woman. South Carolina has a sizeable black population, and they rightly voted for Obama along with conservative white Christians who don’t like Hillary or the social agenda she represents.

Obama is not the candidate for change any more than John Kennedy was the candidate for change.

Obama in fact is the anti-change candidate by blocking the breaking of the highest and strongest of the glass ceilings in America and especially in American political life: the block against women of all colors as equal when it comes to running for highest political office.

Hillary Clinton has earned the Democratic nomination for president. As attractive as Obama is as a candidate, and he is, there is no man on the current American political landscape who deserves the nomination of the Democratic party over Hillary Clinton including Obama.

As Bill Clinton said, he wants to vote for Obama for President some day, but right now, Hillary—a woman—is the more qualified candidate. She is the candidate who has earned this nomination even over Obama. We need to elect her.

HOW TO BALANCE RI'S BUDGET MESS

Gov. Donald L. Carcieri proposed deep budget cuts to close a $151 million deficit, including forcing state workers to take unpaid days off, removing children of illegal immigrants from state health care rolls and cutting back on welfare spending. The plan by Mr. Carcieri, a Republican, seeks to close a budget gap in the current fiscal year. It now goes to the General Assembly, which Democrats control.  That's what this a.m. newspapers are reporting.

Notice that all the correctives are aimed at those least able to survive such budget cuts.  He's also called on retirees to pay for their healthcare benefits...you know, those people on a fixed income!  He's balancing the state budget, the disaster he created in the first place with his tax credits and tax cuts for the wealthiest Rhode Islanders, on the backs of Rhode Islanders least able to tolerate cuts to their salaries and incomes.

How about instead of screwing the middle class and the poorest among us how about we ask churches, privates universities and colleges, and all those others not paying any taxes to get together and come up among them the needed $$$ to balance this year's budget deficit and next year's as well.  That will give the state legislature and the governor time to develop a plan that doesn't screw the middle classes and the poorest of Rhode Islanders.  The Casino owners might want to kick in too!

Come on Bishop Tobin, Brown University, Roger Williams, Johnson and Wales, Providence College, CVS and other corporate people....come up with the money to bail out the state....to help the middle class and poorest among us.  Rhode Island has been giving you huge $$$ perks for years...time to help out!

HILLARY SPEAKS THIS MORNING

Boy, after watching Hillary on Tim Russert's show this a.m., Meet the Press, it is clear that this woman has what it takes to be president of the United States.  Powerful, intelligent woman who made it clear that she would take the troops out of Iraq, give us a universal healthcare program, continue years of fighting for equality for African Americans, Women, hispanics, and gays.  Most importantly, SHE HAS THE BACKGROUND TO GIVE US AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ALL OF US NOT JUST CORPORATE AMERICA.  It is time for a woman.   IT'S TIME FOR A CLINTON, IT'S TIME FOR HILLARY.

Thank God for Labor Unions

Rhode Island's Twelfth has a posting by Eileen Spillane that lays the Chair of the Republican Party in RI out for his continuing anti-worker, anti-union rhetoric.  Well worth the read.

One only needs to read the paper every morning to see the brutal, inhumane, and unconscionable attacks by Gov. Carcieri, who leads the republicans in this state, on our working-class, the poor, and RI's labor unions.

Carcieri doesn't remember that without labor unions, and how they integrated Irish, Italian, and other immigrants into the economy of this state, and this country, immigrants from the early 20th and late 19th century, our grandparents, would still be living in inner city walkups without heat, plumbing or security.  Thank god for labor unions.
